The power of your legacy and the depth of the impact is something many don't consider or focus upon. Life isn't about us, but the lives we impact. They are driven on helping others find their heart story and what makes them unique. What's your view on legacy and your heart story that's central to your core? Let's go!
Legacy Digging with Two Native Sons Podcast has accepted Richard Blank's invitation to join the audience for a solid discussion regarding starting a company from scratch in Costa Rica as an expat. Topics discussed with Richard: advanced telemarketing strategy, conflict management, interpersonal soft skills, customer support, rhetoric, gamification, pinball machines, employee motivation, phonetic micro expression reading.
Richard’s journey in the call center space is filled with twists and turns. When he was 27 years old, he relocated to Costa Rica to train employees for one of the larger call centers in San Jose. With a mix of motivational public speaking style backed by tactful and appropriate rhetoric, Richard shared his knowledge and trained over 10 000 bilingual telemarketers. Richard Blank has the largest collection of restored American Pinball machines and antique Rockola Jukeboxes in Central America making gamification a strong part of CCC culture.Richard Blank is the Chief Executive Officer for Costa Rica’s Call Center since 2008.
Mr. Richard Blank holds a bachelors degree in Communication and Spanish from the University of Arizona and a certificate of language proficiency from the University of Sevilla, Spain. A Keynote speaker for Philadelphia's Abington High School 68th National Honors Society induction ceremony. Giving back to Abington Senior High School is very important to Mr. Blank. As such, he endows a scholarship each year for students that plan on majoring in a world language at the university level.

Come and see for yourself why call center outsourcing in Costa Rica is a perfect solution for your growing company and a powerhouse in the BPO industry.
Connecting with the Speaker
Appreciate that. And then as we go here to end the show, if somebody wanted to connect with you, ask questions, get some insight, potentially whatever they were looking at, what is the best way for them to connect and have that communication with you? First is they grab a plane ticket and fly down here. But if they're not able to do that today, they can give me a call toll free at 888-271-6750. You can shoot me an email at CEO at Costa Rica's callcenter.com. And finally, and this is where you gentlemen will be. I have a very large Facebook fan page about 97,000 local Costa Rican Ticos are on that. And it'll give you a pulse of the local BPO business processes outsourcing industry and also some of the great and cool things that we do in the evening.
Forging Your Own Path
And fast forward, you know, my wife was supposed to go to Stanford University and then she decided to go to CU Boulder or party school. And then she dropped out because she started doing nails and being a nail tech and, you know, all these different things. And of course, you know, the parents, you know, they just didn't understand because they just want so much better because they sacrificed so much and they did all these things. But now, right now they have their grandson and, you know, my wife is very successful business owner. And, you know, so you just never know. But like your parents, you know, they now they're OK with it because now they understand, like, you have to forge your own path.
Investing in Language and Soft Skills
And so by teaching these sort of advanced soft skills, especially since English is their second language, Scott, I pretty much invested in their future by talking about the thesaurus so they can learn similes and expand their vocabulary to be more clear when they speak.
Recharge and Teamwork: The Pac-Man Philosophy
And so maybe that individual needs to put some water on their face. I know it's not their break time, but why don't you put the kid downstairs for a minute? Let him play a game of Pac-Man. Let him recharge his batteries, come up. Or why don't you just have him on non-ready status? Why doesn't Patrick sit next to Scott for a minute? Because Scott's on a roll and listen in on a call and high five him when he's closing another. And then maybe from that buddy system, then you get your groove back. And so I believe that if somebody pauses between calls, And you get that sort of energy from someone sitting next to them. I'm not going to yell at you for not making that call that hour. Obviously, you're learning something from it. There's momentum there. There's high fives there. And don't kid yourself. You're still going to hit your numbers that day.
